Before I give nursing care or implement intervention on my patients who are at stage of adolescent development, first I have to recognize the characteristics or nature of its development stage.. As we know that youth is a time of transition between childhood and adulthood. Each stage of human life there must be development tasks that must be passed. When someone fails through the development task in real life then on the next development phase would be a problem in a person is. To know the personality of adolescents need to know the tasks of development.
Identity and identity confusion (identity vs. identity confusion) is the fifth stage experienced by the individual during the years of adolescence. At this stage they are confronted by the search for who they are, how they will, and where they will reach their future. One important dimension is the assessment of alternative options to the role. Career exploration is important. Parents should allow teenagers to explore many roles and the various roads. If the child explores the various roles and find the positive role it will achieve a positive identity. If parents refuse adolescent identity, while teenagers do not know a lot of roles and also does not explain about the way a positive future then he will experience identity confusion.
In addition to the tasks of development, we must also recognize the special characteristics in adolescents, among others:
